Detox is an important part of the Spring season. As the winter chill begins to warm up and the signs of spring surround us, our bodies become aware of the sluggishness the winter has brought on.
An important part of getting your body ready for the seasonal change is drinking a Spring Tonic. Originally founded in Appalachian ritual, a Spring Tonic can be made up of various ingredients. Here is Anthony Morrocco’s Amazing Spring Tonic recipe.
Detox Spring Tonic Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (unfiltered, organic)
- 1 tsp to 1 Tbsp Honey/Agave (use as much as you’d like for desired sweetness)
- 1/2 Fresh lemon
- 1 tsp to 1 Tbsp Blackstrap Molasses (use as much as you’d like for desired sweetness)
- 8 oz Warm/Hot Water
When Should I Drink It?
The Spring Tonic should be drank first thing every morning to kick start your glands. Drink it to help balance your natural pH levels, help with digestion and assist your body in detoxifying.
Personally I like to drink 1-2 quarts of water per day on top of the Tonic to help things get going. Drinking water is an important way to detox especially during the spring months.
