Introduction to MM Shampoos

Beware of chemicals

The synthetic chemicals in commercial shampoos have a number of negative effects.  They will cause dry, brittle, and damaged hair.  They disrupt your hair and scalp’s natural pH balance.  They leave behind a coating on the hair and often plug your follicle openings on the scalp which can lead to hair loss and hair thinning.  People with sensitive skin can often get dandruff and even itching from these chemicals.

Detoxing & What to Expect

When switching to all natural products you will go through what is called the detox period.  There are a couple of things happening during this time.  First, your scalp is used to being stripped of its sebaceous oils.  It will react by either overproducing or under-producing oils.  This will cause your hair and scalp to either be overly oily or overly dry.  Your scalp will learn to properly regulate its oils over time.  Second, our shampoos are stripping any residue, wax build-up, old chemicals, and toxins.  As the chemicals are being released they try to cling onto anything they can, in this case your hair.  This can cause your hair to become waxy, matted, or dull.  After the detox period is over, your hair will be healthier, more radiant, manageable, and restored back to its natural state.

Shampoo Regimen

Your shampoo regimen should contain at least three shampoos that are rotated regularly.  It is important to rotate shampoos because if you use just one your hair and scalp will become resistant and immune to the healing properties in that shampoo.  This means they will no longer respond to the nourishment that the shampoo has to offer.  Rotating ensures thorough cleansing and nourishment each time you wash your hair.

Each of our shampoos has its very own healing properties.  We have five shampoos that each represent an element that constitutes the essence of every living being.  These elements are earth, water, fire, air, and ether.  The Earth Essence detoxifies. The Sea Essence cleanses and rejuvenates. The Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo increases blood flow and balances your hair and scalp pH. The Pine Shale nourishes, soothes, and heals. Heavenly Essence energizes and conditions. We recommend rotating all five so that you can benefit from the healing properties of each shampoo.

How often should you wash your hair?  That is completely up to personal preference and lifestyle.  Listen to your hair.  Some people feel they need to wash daily while others only need to wash once a week.

Why Should I Shampoo Twice?

At first glance, the recommendation by the shampoo industry that we shampoo our hair twice each session sounds like a gimmick to sell more shampoo. However, there is value in this recommendation. A perfect shampooing is achieved in two parts. The first shampooing cleanses hair and scalp of dirt, dead cells and dust, which would otherwise be massaged back into the hair, scalp and follicle openings if only shampooed once. This clogging debris could retard new hair growth and severely damage the oil glands, upsetting the natural fall-out and reproductive cycles of your hair.

The second shampooing and massage of your clean hair and scalp stimulates the flow of blood to the scalp and opens the hair follicles, allowing the blood vessels to feed each root, bulb and hair shaft, nourishing the entire follicle and activating the sebaceous glands. This sets the proper distribution of your own natural oils to the entire scalp and hair shafts in motion. A natural coating of oil is vital to the maintenance of a healthy scalp and hair. It keeps the outer layer of hair lubricated and prevents drying.
