This year to honor mother’s everywhere for Mother’s Day, we at Morrocco Method decided to have a contest. This contest was called the “Superhero Mom Contest” We challenged our customers to send in stories about their moms and the AMAZING things they have done for them. Mom’s spend most of their lives taking care of their children, never asking for anything in return so this year we wanted to help their children give back! We received some truly heartfelt, and touching emails and stories and we are happy to bring you the story from our winner, Aditi Giasotta and her mom Kalavati Giasotta.
My name is Aditi and below is my entry into the Superhero Mom Story Contest! :)
My mother truly is my superhero! My dad passed away when I was 8 years old, and my sister (who has Down’s Syndrome) was only 5 at the time. My mother always put us first and foremost and raised us so incredibly well under the circumstances which might have emotionally and mentally paralyzed a lot of people. Despite whatever emotions she was feeling, she always went above and beyond for us. My mom is also a breast cancer survivor. At first, the doctor found cancer in one breast, and she later learned that it was in both breasts. She made the brave decision to have a double mastectomy as she didn’t want to be in the same position again in the future with another cancer diagnosis. To her, her body is just that – a body and a vessel which carries her soul. Her soul and heart are the most important to her and all of us around her who love her so much and could never picture our lives without her. My mom is a very spiritual Hindu and has helped to run a Hindu temple for the past 6 years. She is the secretary, treasurer, occasional cook – and does anything else that needs to be done. She goes there 7 days a week and it gives her so much peace. My mom is a true phoenix rising from the ashes. Circumstances happen to us in our lives, but they don’t have to DEFINE us.
Thank you again!
